5 Ways to Help You Sleep Easier

Do you find yourself having a hard time getting to sleep at night?  It isn't uncommon.  There are many people who have the same struggle.

There are many reasons people have difficulty falling asleep at night.  Stress, chemical imbalances and medical conditions are just a few of the things that can cause insomnia.

Here are a few ideas to help relax you before bedtime so that, perhaps you can get to sleep easier.

Take A Warm Bath

Taking a warm bath before bedtime can help you feel sleepier and thus help you fall asleep faster.  Studies have shown that it is better to shower or bathe an hout to an hour and a half before bedtime.  This has to do with the circadian rhythm of the body.

Turn Off Your Tech Devices

When you lie in bed at night with your cell phone or tablet you tend to trigger your mind to stay active and can lose track of time.  Turn off or set your phone and tablet aside before bed.

Put Relaxing Scents in Your Room

Scents like lavender, vanilla and jasmine are relaxing scents and can help you unwind and relax.  You can get a small mist bottle and spray a little in the room before bed time.  You can even put a little on a small cloth and place it under your pillow.

Get a Sound Machine

Sound and light machines like the Sunnest Ocean Wave Projector with Night Lights is a perfect way to relax.  This machine displays waves of soft light on the ceiling of the room while playing nature sounds. You can set a timer and change which sound you would like to listen to.  Sounds like the ocean, rumblng thunder and crickets help me to personally relax at night.  This machine is priced under $20 and is available on Amazon.  Here is a demo of how it works.

Cut the Caffeine

Drinking caffeine throughout the day and evening can stimulate your body and cause you to stay awake because it disrupts your internal body clock.  Cut back on caffeinated sodas, drinks and coffee.  You shouldn't have any caffeine within 6 hours of your bedtime.

I hope these tips will help you to relax and sleep better.  What are some things that help you to sleep? Tell me in the comments below.
