Natural Hangover Helpers




Did you celebrate a little too hard for the holidays? Here are some foods and beverages that can help ease your New Year hangover.




Coconut water 

Coconut water is high in electrolytes which help to hydrate your body.


Asparagus

Some compounds that are found in asparagus are said to help break down alcohol and help the toxins exit your body more quickly.


Ginger

Fresh ginger root or ginger ale help with nausea.  Add some fresh ginger to your water or drink a little ginger ale.


Tomato Juice

Tomato juice helps boost your liver which will help speed alcohol digestion.


Water with Lemon

This helps to support detoxifying your liver by boosting its function and tissue regeneration.



Bananas

Bananas help replenish potassium in your body.  If your muscles are feeling sore and achy, you may be lacking in potassium.


Eggs

The amino acid cysteine that helps break down acetaldehyde, the toxin responsible for hangovers is found in eggs. Scramble a few or have a nice big omelet.


Cayenne Pepper

Eating spicy food can cause you to sweat and help release toxins from your body.

Yes, Sprite soda.  Research has shown that drinking Sprite helps your body to release toxins by expediting the process that acetaldehyde turns into acetate.


Fruit

The fructose in fruit helps your body feel better by helping your body release the toxins of alcohol.


Coffee

Coffee helps you get rid of headaches by dilating blood vessels.


Green Tea

Green tea has antioxidants that are good for your body's cells and help you feel better.
