Gus' Fortunate Misfortune is a story about a little mouse who gets picked on by the other mice and the family cat. Gus feels scared and all alone in the world, but a misfortunate event takes place that turns his world around and lets him see it in a whole new way. Gus gets trapped in a box while trying to find some food and can't find his way out. When he finally sees a way to escape, the box is picked up and taken to a far away place, away from his family. Once in the new location, Gus is able to escape from the box, but is very hungry and thirsty. So, he goes in search for something to eat. When he finally comes across some food and drink, he faces another obstacle. There is a human in the room, and Gus almost gets stepped on by him. Frightened, Gus runs away only to get stuck in a crack. The human is a kind soul and puts some chips out for Gus to nibble. Gus happily eats the chips but is now very thirsty....
