How to Make Scented Bath Salts with Insta Natural Essential Oils

I was recently sent Insta Natural Essential Oils in Peppermint and Lemon scents.  They both smell fantastic.  If you like a lot of scent, you will love these too. The bottle size is generous and has a convenient dropper for measuring. Insta Natural Essential Oils are available on Amazon and their website. I love using essential oils in homemade items and gifts.  I decided that I was going to make some Peppermint Scented Bath Salts to give as gifts  to the hostesses of St Patrick's day parties that I am going to be attending. The supplies needed are: Epsom Salt Sea Salt Baking Soda Food Coloring InstaNatural Essential Oils Metal Bowl Measuring Cup Decorative Jar Ribbon Start by mixing together 1-1/2 cups of Epson Salt 1/2 cup of Sea Salt and 1/4 cup of Baking Soda Add a couple of drops of Food Coloring and mix together until you get the desired color you want.  I recommend keeping it light. Add 1-2 dropper

Fun Facts about #February

Did you know that the Romans and Celts regarded February as the start of Spring?  Well it surely doesn't seem like Spring around here.  As a matter of fact I don't recall such a cold Winter in a long time. Weather-lore beliefs and sayings of February: If February give much snow. A Fine Summer it doth foreshow, Let's hope that belief holds true. Here are some fun facts I found online about the month of February from Folklore and Tradtions: February, along with the month of January was introduced on the Roman calendar by Numa Pompilous when the calendar was extended from 10 to 12 months. Numa Pompilius was the legendary second king of Rome, succeeding Romulus The word February comes from the word Februa which means cleansing or purification, which reflects the rituals performed before Spring. Other names for February: Anglo Saxons called February Sol-monath (cake month) because cakes were offered to the gods during that month.  They also refer

History of the Po' boys - Last day of Mardi Gras

Today is the last day of Mardi Gras.  In honor of the festivities, I wanted to tell you the history of how the Po' boy sandwiches came about. The famous Po' boy sandwiches of New Orleans are said to have been invented in 1929 during the transit strike. Two former streetcar conductors by the names of Bennie and Clovis Martin  had opened the Martin Brothers Coffee Stand and Restaurant in the French Market back in 1922. (photo source: http://www.poboyfest.com/history) On July 1, 1929, the transit strike began and the brothers wanted to do something for their former co-workers in the street railway employees' union.  To show their support, they made up big roast beef sandwiches on French bread and told their employees to give them free to the "poor boys" on strike. (photo source: http://www.poboyfest.com/history) " We fed those men free of charge until the strike ended.  Whenever we saw one of the striking men coming, one of us would say, &qu

Forever Cool - Cooling Towel Review

This is one product that I was pretty excited to review.   The Forever Cool Cooling Towel is an Eco-friendly reusable towel that keeps you cool for hours.   I tend to overheat when I work out or am in the sun too long and this towel is perfect for cooling me off by lowering my body temperature.  By the way, it's great for hot flashes!  The best part is that it can be reactivated by re wetting, wringing out and shaking again.  When I used it at the gym, I felt an immediate relief. This towel is great for anyone who plays sports, golfs, does yoga or works out.  Perfect for someone who works outdoors. Good to have while gardening or mowing your lawn to help you cool down.   I like that it has its own case.  It is easily portable.  Because it has its own case, it can be  kept in your gym bag or sports bag.  It is great for your kids who play sports too. I just soak it in water and wring it out and shake.  It retains moisture yet feels dry to the touch and doesn&
