Fun Cheese Facts from Craigs Creamery

Society’s love for cheese in undeniable. No matter how you slice it, cheese is a household staple. To celebrate National Cheese Day on June 4, Craigs Creamery, a new farm-to-table brand founded by eight family farms in upstate New York, is sharing its favorite, noteworthy cheese facts:

  1. The average American eats about 35 pounds of cheese each year
  2. Annually, more than 1/3rd of all U.S. milk goes toward making cheese — it takes 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese
  3. When you make 1 pound of cheese, you create 9 pounds of whey, which is commonly used as supplementation to help build muscle
  4. Flavor differences don’t start with the milk, they start with the cow, and cow comfort and feed are critical in producing quality milk and ultimately great tasting cheese
  5. Cheddar is the 2nd most popular cheese in America – right behind Mozzarella

I was recently sent some samples of Craigs Creamery cheeses and they are so creamy and delicious.  I spend a lot of time in upstate New York and in the Syracuse area.  It is nice to know exactly where the cheese I am eating is coming from. The cheeses are so delicious.  I couldn't wait to try them out and opened the snack cheeses tonight to try out.  They have a very nice quality and flavor.  I will be looking for these at my grocery store for sure!

I love that the Craigs Creamery is powered entirely by renewable energy from their own bio-digester.  Watch this video to learn more

I live a low carb lifestyle and always have a variety of cheeses in my home.  These varieties of cheeses are so delicious and have such a nice texture.  I love all of the different forms that the cheeses are available in as well.
