How to Make Your Home into the Ultimate Summer Destination

Don’t let the quarantine blues get you down. Even if your summer plans have been derailed, you can still enjoy a great time right at home. All you need is to give it a good clean, and add a few fun features:

Your House
Let’s start inside, especially if its still cold where you live. You will want to:

Declutter
The first step to any spring-clean is to declutter, and now that everyone is home for days on end, it’s the perfect time to get this done. Sell items of value that you don’t want online to boost your savings, try to repurpose items you would otherwise throw away as an art project, and as for the rest? Try to remove it as safely as you can.

Deep Clean
Deep clean your whole house. This includes things like upholstery and even your ceiling. Get everyone on board and get it sparkling from the floor to the ceiling.

Freshen Up
If you spot an issue, make note of it and actually get around to fixing it. That fence that has been needing a new paint job is the perfect project for self-isolation and lockdown. That small kitchen renovation project you have always wanted to do? Now’s the time. Whatever you can do yourself that should have been done years ago, you can complete now

Design Rest Areas
Now that your home is free of clutter, cleaned, and freshened up, it’s time to think about how you will spend your time indoors. If you like to read, set up a reading nook. If you like long afternoon naps, you can set up everything you need like a great pillow and blanket next to the couch.

Try to make as many of these areas where you can spend time enjoying an activity as possible, so you can move around the house

Your Backyard

As the weather gets warmer, you are going to want to head outside. Before the warm temperatures get here, you will want to prep your backyard so that it is ready to use when the time comes:

Address Issues
Go through and take note of the issues in your backyard. If a tree is overgrown and brushing up against your windows, or it a bush has become overgrown, now is the time to handle it. For fixes that are at your height, you should be able to handle it all on your own, but for issues out of your reach, you’ll want to hire a tree trimming service

Build it Up
Don’t be afraid to order some plants or seeds and to spend a lot of time curating the perfect garden. It’s a great activity that will help you get outside and enjoy nature during these trying times!

Alternatively, you could build up hobby areas: sunbeds with an optional fold-up umbrella, for example, or a badminton net.

Invest in and Stock Up on Home-Friendly Summer Items
While you’re working hard to make your home and backyard look great for summer, you’ll want to stock up on a few items if you don’t already have them. A pitcher to make summer-friendly drinks, lawn games, sunbathing chairs, indoor plants, gardening tools, a barbecue – stick with items that you will get a lot of use out of, so you’ll be ready to have summer fun day after day right at home.
