Get More Protein in Your Diet with Chickapea Pasta

Chickapea Pasta is an organic, vegan, and gluten-free pasta with 23g of plant-based protein in each serving. This pasta is made of just two ingredients: organic chickpeas and lentils! And now Chickapea +Greens takes healthy pasta to the next level. Made with only chickpeas, lentils, kale, and spinach, it offers a simple and tasty way to get your protein and veggies in one!

I was sent the Chickapea Rotini , which is perfect for making pasta salad.  One of my favorites is pasta salad with tuna, green peppers and onion with mayonnaise, salt and pepper.  It’s simple and delicious. Just cook the pasta according to instructions, let cool, then chop and add the other ingredients.

Chickapea Pastas are a great way to get your kids to eat more veggies and a perfect way for us to get more filling protein into our diets!  You can even use Chickapea Pasta products to make a delicious snack, Penne Pasta Chips (recipe below).

Your favorite Chickapea Pasta noodle transforms into a healthy and addictive snack that is perfect to munch on-the-go or in a lunch box. This school and office safe snack is gluten-free, vegan and fully nut-free. The noodles come out so crispy and crunchy, perfect for dipping into hummus or for a fun snack idea you can reach for any time of day.

Penne Pasta Chips

  • Prep Time:  5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
  • Total Time:   30 minutes
  • Course: Snack
  • Cuisine: Canadian
  • Servings:  6

  • 1 Package Chickapea Penne
  • 2 Tbsp salt, (for cooking pasta)
  • 1 1/3 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp chipotle chili powder

  1. Cook the Chickapea penne al dente, (heat 16 cups of water and 2 Tbsp of salt in a large pot over high heat until boiling. Add pasta to the water, decrease heat to maintain a gentle boil.  Stir and cook pasta for 5 minutes)
  2. Drain pasta and rinse with warm water
  3. Pat the pasta dry
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F
  5. Add the pasta to a bowl and mix in the oil until evenly coated
  6. Sprinkle in the spices and toss well to coat
  7. Place the coated noodles in the air fryers basket
  8. Air fry the noodles at 400°F for 8 minutes, toss them in the basket to flip
  9. Cook the noodles for another 6-8 minutes or until cooked through and crispy
  10. Remove the cooked noodles from the air fryer and allow to cool before storing or serving
  11. Serve with hummus
  12. Enjoy!

Recipe notes:

  • The noodles will continue to firm up slightly when cooling
  • Once cooled store the cooked noodles in a seal container outside of the refrigerator
  • To make without an air fryer, bake the seasoned noodles on a single layer tray at 400°F for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and becoming crispy (flipping halfway)
  • Without an air fryer the pasta nacho chips will not be as crispy
  • If the Penne Pasta Nacho chips are stored in a sealed container while still warm the condensation which collects in the container will make them soggy
  • Store at room temperature in a sealed container for up to 3 days

  1. I have heard of this Chickapea Pasta, but I have never tried it. I don’t like saying this, but it looks too bland and healthy for me 😣

  2. Sounds like a great pasta alternative I'll have to try.

  3. Big fan of chickpeas as a matter of fact I add them to chili which I am eating right now. This salad really sounds sounds good. Have not saw this pasta in the store but will be looking for it

  4. I could so use extra protein in my diet for sure.
