From February 13 through March 8, Longwood presents Garden Glow, a ticketed evening experience running Friday through Sunday from 5 to 10 pm, transforming the Conservatory District after dark with illuminated botanical installations. Highlights include Seeking Light: Bonsai Illuminated, where ancient Shimpaku junipers glow beneath blacklight, a suspended botanical installation in the West Conservatory by floral designer Jennifer Reed, and SPARK, an outdoor installation by Danish artist Daan Roosegaarde in which thousands of glowing sparks lift into the night sky like fireflies (weather permitting).
To complement the exhibits, 1906 will offer a Valentine’s prix fixe menu designed to turn Garden Glow evenings into a complete night out, balancing luxury ingredients with seasonal technique. The menu opens with a mushroom pâté tartlet topped with golden Ossetra caviar, followed by pull-apart brioche with garden herbs and honey butter. Course one highlights include chilled Maine lobster tail with white miso and tangerine, braised short rib sacchetti with salsify and parsnip velouté, or artichoke risotto with saffron brodo and tartufo pecorino. For the second course, guests can choose between a caramelized celeriac roulade with truffled polenta and citrus caramel, grilled tiger prawns with a shellfish medley and preserved lemon herb accents, or Beef Wellington with truffled taleggio duxelles and sauce périgueux. Desserts continue the theme, ranging from a white chocolate crémeux with black truffle and coffee gelato to a strawberry entremet with lychee mousse and strawberry riesling sorbet.
