How IoT has Impacted People, Places and Things

What is the IoT?  The IoT is the Internet of Things. Still not sure what that is?  Here is a simple explanation written by Jacob Morgan on Forbes.com

“Simply put, this is the concept of basically connecting any device with an on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of.  This also applies to components of machines, for example a jet engine of an airplane or the drill of an oil rig.  The IoT is a giant network of connected "things" (which also includes people).  The relationship will be between people-people, people-things, and things-things.”

Since more people will be using more things to be connected to their homes, their things and each other, there will be a need for more app development.  With app development, there will be a need for more ad hoc reporting.  So, what is ad hoc reporting?   Basically, what it does is give data analytics to help support company business decisions.   According to Izenda, a leading software company, based in Atlanta, Georgia, “this can be very time consuming because the custom reports needed take a lot of development time away from your application and make customers wait for answers. “
Izenda also states that they “can deliver ad hoc reporting to your end users where they need it, inside the daily workflows of your application.  This makes adding real-time reporting fast and easy, because it’s purpose-built for OEM and embedded use.”

Companies like Izenda, who was named one of Solution Reviews Top 6 embedded analytic vendors to watch in 2017, can help with ad hoc reporting, which increases value for your applications users.  They are a leader in self-service reporting and can help you serve your customer’s more efficiently and effectively.

Consumers, like myself, are always looking for ways to simplify their lives. If there is an easier way to get things done, we will surely be interested. The whole idea of ad hoc reporting sounds very interesting to me because I believe that it will save me money in the long run.  Why do I believe this?  I believe this because I think that ad hoc reporting will reduce the need for IT departments in companies and thus, save them money, which will in turn save me money in the long run.  This self-service reporting is a smart solution, in my opinion.
