  1. Christmas would be a little extra special with $500 to spend, I would be able to pay off some bills and have enough left over for a nice dinner party.

  2. Our Turkey didn't thaw out in time, so for our Thanksgiving meal we had chuck roast instead. It was a decent meal, though I admit I felt deflated.

  3. According to a Native American blog I read, a nine year old pilgrim boy got lost and the natives found him, fed him and returned the boy to his parents- and in the meantime, some of the tribal members became attached to the lad and were worried about his welfare- so a harvest feast was proposed ( with the excuse that this would ensure good relations between the tribe and the new settlement).

The native tribe far outnumbered the pilgrims( in fact, only two adult white women had survived the first winter ashore. 5 deer, various fowl ( turkey wasn’t mentioned specifically), shell fish, lobster as well as vegetables were offered for the meal.

All the broken peace treaties came later on, but on that crisp autumn day, any thought of those things didn’t exist. If anything, the original Thanksgiving ( which lasted nearly 4 days) glorified peace and goodwill.

And so THAT is why family from near and far are summoned to gather in order to set aside their political and social squabbles on Thanksgiving ( in honor of the day and it’s sacred intentions): For at least a few precious hours, relatives are required to be civil and behave for the sake of family unity.

  4. I seen this posted on facebook and had to stop in and try my luck

    1. Good luck Brandy. I wish I could enter myself! lol
