The Ideal Guide to NYC Weekend Getaways

A trip to the Big Apple is a great way to get away and enjoy some culture, history and fun in one exciting location. With so much to see and do, you could spend weeks in the city and still never take in everything it has to offer. However, you can plan a great visit to NYC for just a weekend and still enjoy the best that the city has to offer. With a little research and thoughtful planning, you can be on your way to the perfect weekend getaway in New York City.

Pick Your Hotel Strategically

If you want to get the most out of a quick trip to the city, start by choosing lodging that offers plenty of amenities in an ideal location, like the Westgate New York Grand Central Hotel. Picking a place that keeps you close to transportation or your top sightseeing options can save you precious time over your few short days in town. You can learn more @westgatenyc.com about these types of hotels and what they have to offer their weekend getaway guests.

Plan Your Itinerary Wisely

Your first instinct may be to cram as much as possible into your weekend trip to NYC. While this approach can work with the right timing and lots of luck, it's better to give yourself some time to account for crowds and traffic. Choose the top two or three things you just have to see in the city and give yourself time to enjoy them properly. With the money and vacation days you're saving, you can always schedule another weekend trip to enjoy even more experiences later. Don't forget to account for your meals as well. Take a look at a map and research online reviews so you can pick the perfect nearby spot for lunch, dinner or drinks without having to adjust your schedule.

Save Time with Organized Tours

While there is something to be said about enjoying New York like a local, the best way to see more in less time is to take advantage of a professional tour. The Westgate Hotel, New York City and many other hotels in the city offer tour packages to make booking easy for their guests. From Lady Liberty to Times Square to Central Park and everywhere in between, organized tours help you take in more sights without having to battle the traffic or risk taking a wrong turn. Be sure to ask about transportation to and from the pickup site.
Whether you're traveling alone or with family and friends, New York City is the ideal spot for a quick weekend getaway. Plan ahead for the best experience possible so you can enjoy this city to the fullest.

  3. Great tips and this is something we could have used years ago. My sister and I traveled to NY for a long weekend years ago. We did not do any research or check into things to do. Our second trip was so much better ............ WE did have a lot of fun there and someday maybe we will go back
