SPARTAN MICHIGAN WEEKEND RETURNS: GRIT, GLORY & MIDWEST MUD IN THE TOUGHEST TEST OF THE SEASON

Three Distances. One Wild Course. July 19-20, 2025 — Michigan, Let’s Get Savage.

BELMONT, MI - The battle returns to the Midwest. Thousands of endurance athletes from across the country will descend on Cannonsburg Ski Area this July for the Michigan Spartan Event Weekend. Known for its punishing terrain, sharp elevation changes, and notoriously unforgiving footing, this event transforms the local landscape into a battlefield of stamina and determination. The 2025 edition is expected to welcome over 6,000 racers over the weekend, making it one of the most physically demanding events on the Spartan calendar, it offers a compelling visual spectacle and powerful stories of perseverance.

Set just outside Flint, the rugged wilderness transforms into a grueling obstacle course, where strength, speed, and mental toughness will be pushed to the brink. This isn’t your average Midwest trail run, it’s a relentless test of endurance where every mile scorches the lungs and every obstacle demands total commitment.

The event will feature multiple race distances across the weekend:

  • SPRINT: 5K 20 Obstacles

  • SUPER: 10K 25 Obstacles

  • Kids: 1-3K + Obstacles

The Michigan course will push racers to their limit. With fast, open stretches that dare you to redline, sharp climbs that catch your legs off guard, and thick woods that mess with your rhythm. Layer in classic Spartan punishment - the Spear Throw, Twister, Olympus, Barbed Wire Crawl, and a relentless Sandbag Carry - and you’ve got a battlefield built to break and build in equal measure.

“This is the kind of race that separates the committed from the comfortable,” said Spartan Founder Joe De Sena. “Michigan is raw, it’s real, and it doesn’t let up. You don’t come here to coast - you come to find out what you’re made of.”
